Irina Merson founded High Energy Inc. in 1998 with a goal of providing the highest quality of engineering and consulting services through a combination of flexibility, creativity, integrity, and ingenuity unique in the electric power consulting industry. Using her 25 years of experience as an electrical engineer and a project manager for a broad range of projects, she has created a strong and talented team of professionals known for its ability to address complex issues and provide cost-effective and complete solutions.

Irina's personal expertise includes conducting market research, managing projects, representing project owners, evaluating utility assets, preparing due diligence studies, estimating capital budgets and preparing project scope documents, designing high voltage substations, evaluating and developing utility standards and conducting vendor inspections.

Irina began her career in Minsk, Belarus as a system protection engineer for the State Department of Electrical Networks. She immigrated to the United States in 1980 and worked as a production engineer and design engineer for companies in California before moving to Colorado to work for various mid-sized and large consulting firms whose clients were major utilities and large municipalities. Her increasingly responsible positions included group lead for high voltage substations in physical and protective relaying engineering and design, contract manager, and senior project manager.

Irina earned her Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the Belorussian Polytechnic Institute in the former Soviet Union. She has completed numerous seminars, certifications, and training courses in both engineering and business practice. She is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers' Power Engineering Society and has served on the organizing committees for major IEEE society meetings, as well as for regional Rocky Mountain utility organizations. She is very proud to be a naturalized citizen of the United States.
